ABOUT THE PROJECT

I was asked to come up with some ideas for a custom boatside design.  To gage which direction the client wanted to go in, I first designed a few ideas in two broad themes; ocean waves and speed. The client preferred the themes of speed and started leaning towards bright red and shades of gray.  Most speed boats have designs that evoke the sense of intense speed, but I wanted this one to stand out just above the rest.  I liked the idea of perpendicular lines cutting into racing stripes to offer a focal point on the boat.  I was also inspired by the aesthetic of a sneaker, to be honest.  The below images are snapshots of the process from the brainstorm at the beginning to zeroing in on the small details at the end.  The photo at the top of the webpage was the final result and the client was really happy.
